The Accounting Associate is responsible for the full-cycle job cost accounting functions associated with the assigned development projects. This role would offer support to the Development Team and other Accounting Departments with month-end close, balance sheet reconciliation, and capital project accounting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Perform proper full-cycle job cost accounting for all capital project, with a focus on CapEx and Tenant Improvements
  • Perform month-end procedures, including trial balance/balance sheet review and reconciliation, accrual journal entries, place-in-service entries, and retention reconciliation
  • Reconcile budgets by understanding project AND accounting needs; can analyze project costs, variances, accruals, and capitalization
  • Work within tight deadlines to ensure property books are closed in a timely manner
  • Setup new job budgets and contracts for CapEx and Tenant Improvements
  • Resolve any vendor payment issues and funding issues directly with the appropriate teams
  • Assemble and submit construction loan draws to lenders for project funding
  • Assist with valuations and appraisal requests as needed
  • Complete special projects as assigned by the Manager
  • EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting or related field
  • Experience with job cost or property accounting, GL Accounting experience
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong understanding of accounting concepts and principles, including GAAP accounting
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (including vlookups, pivot tables, etc.)
  • Experience with Yardi Voyager, Payscan, Nexus, or other job cost/property management software preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong understanding of construction accounting and general construction processes preferred
