Position is responsible for the management & oversight of data center properties within assigned region/geographic location. Position will provide operations leadership and inspire the confidence of CIM’s data center customers, potential clients, internal data center teams, JV partners and external consultants / contractors / service providers. He/she is in charge of all aspects of the operating data centers, including the safety, sustainability, operation, maintenance, repair of all equipment and systems, supporting a 24/7 data center operation to achieve 100% uptime and 100% compliance with all customer SLAs and standards while building team expertise and capabilities in order to enhance customer trust and CIM’s reputation in the data center industry.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Train, direct and supervise the on-site facility managers in the performance of their responsibilities.Ensure data center sites operate on a reliable 24/7 mode; ensuring sites are operated to the highest standard and meet clients’ requirements. Accountable for the engineering operations and core infrastructure maintenance.Responsible for establishing appropriate operating protocols and ensuring compliance. Responsible for a safe and reliable environment (incl. the scheduling, coordination and completion of all significant planned and emergency maintenance). Appoint responsible person(s) on-site for dangerous (electrical) works and environment (F gases). Evaluate and make recommendations for enhancing CIM’s data center operating capabilities via external partnerships and/or internal staffing.Oversight responsibility for the development and/or approval of the annual expense budgets. Financial understanding and guidance of monthly variance reports. Ensure customer relations are consistent with established CIM standards and expectations.Provide overall direction of day to day management and have full knowledge and oversight responsibility for management of the propertiesActively participate in the acquisition due diligence process, including involvement in the management related section of the underwriting processPartner closely with CIM Development to deliver and maintain mission critical IT hardware and tooling across CIM’s data center investments.Provide regular updates to the investment leads and oversight principalsProvide effective interaction with other departments Engage actively with property accounting functions and construction teams. Engage with Leasing team to ensure SLA commitments can be exceeded and assets are leased appropriately and in alignment with CIM’s overall strategyAct as primary customer technical liaison, for both customer on-site visits and managing critical incidents including real-time reporting & response, post-event root cause analysis and infrastructure repair and handling of any customer concerns.Direct supervision over the on-site facility managers.Direct supervision of third party providers, potentially including 3rd Party Facility Management Service Firms and JV operating partners.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree required in engineering or related field, graduate degree in business or technical field is a plus, industry experience in electrical or mechanical engineering.Minimum 10 years of professional experience in a technical, mission critical IT environment with first-hand experience of delivering 100%/24/7 uptime.Seasoned leader, with the desire to grow into the additional responsibilities. Experience in leading teams, people management, performance management, resource planning for a high availability environment, “hands-on” attitude that leads by example and mentors’ team.Certification by Uptime Institute or similar industry organization is a plus.Strong technical skills: expert in electrical settings, computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), technical infrastructure or data center infrastructure management (DCIM), power metering systems, understanding and experience in relevant processes and maintenance, approving and making ensuring that standards and processes are met without fail.
