The Director of ESG & Sustainability will work with internal departments, vendors, and industry contacts to not only meet the Company's ESG reporting goals but will work to advance an overall ESG strategy considering the notable advancements in the field. Responsibilities include developing future ESG initiates to achieve strategic vision, understanding the Company's ESG objectives, measuring and reporting internally and externally, and drafting of policies and procedures. The successful candidate is a critical thinker with strong business acumen and has a deep understanding of ESG and the various sustainability reporting standards and metrics. 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Develop and lead a multi-pronged strategy for Environmental Social and Governance (ESG).
  • Establish objectives and milestones to achieve short and long-term goals, embedding our strategy within the functional areas as an integrated part of how we work.
  • Develop external ESG reporting and work collaboratively across multiple departments to drive program awareness and communicate program results.
  • Develop and implement corporate programs to drive awareness and achieve intended targets.
  • Create and drive engagement opportunities that serve employees, suppliers, consumers and partners while aligning with CIM’s mission and vision.
  • Build existing and new ESG programs that align to the strategy and leverage to expand opportunities within the business.
  • Develop and execute an overall program/project management, operational, and change management strategy related to business initiatives/processes.
  • Create dashboards and reporting to track performance for various audiences (employees, Executives & Board level).
  • Work cross-functionally to develop and implement successful marketing, corporate communications and PR strategies.
  • Act as a thought leader in ESG; Understanding current and future challenges within the industry and educating and prioritizing these issues with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with the Company’s internal groups to develop an integrated and coordinated corporate sustainability strategy, with objectives designed to drive business results, reduce risk and enhance the Company’s reputation on environmental and social issues
  • Partner cross-functionally to build sustainability metrics into short and long-term strategic and operational planning to drive environmental and social initiatives in product development, supply chain, operations and workforce management; measure and monitor progress against key strategies, objectives and performance targets
  • Lead CIM’s ESG reporting practices, including creation and publication of Company’s annual ESG/CSR report, coordinating data collection across departments; partner closely with EHS&S team on third-party questionnaires and industry surveys, and engage with key investor rating and ranking organizations
  • Develop ESG dashboard for tracking and reporting progress against objectives; prepare regular updates to executive team and Board of Directors on ESG trends, priorities and initiatives
  • Continuously research and evaluate evolving ESG trends and legislation, with a global perspective; stay informed regarding emerging sustainability issues and best practices; identify opportunities for collaboration and assist with development of policy recommendations
  • Serve as a resource for internal partners for ESG reporting and broader communications needs and opportunities
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of Company's programs relating to ESG and comparison to its peers.
  • Be a key leader on ESG Committee in the development and completion of CIM’s ESG goals.
  • Assist in the development and publication of annual Corporate Social Responsibility Report (CSR) and collaborate across functions and businesses to develop content, and coordinate with our outside design firm.
  • Lead the completion of other sustainability reports including GRESB, CDP and other reports.
  • Collect, manage, maintain, and consolidate sustainability data with environmental impacts including energy, water, waste, and carbon footprint.
  • Review and assist in executing projects that will increase the Company's sustainability efforts.
  • Develop tools, databases, and other tracking mechanisms to track CIM’s sustainability and social programs.
  • Identify, coordinate, and respond to any third-party surveys related to ESG and other reporting.
  • Gather and manage materials related to CSR including Code of Conduct, Business Ethics, and other Governance documents.
  • Stay up to date on industry standards and trends relating to ESG.
  • EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: (including certification, licenses, etc.)
  • At least 10 years of professional experience within ESG or CSR that include driving corporate ESG/CSR initiatives that tie to strategic business objectives; 8 years of team leadership experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required (Master’s Degree preferred).

  • Experience building and executing a global program from scratch.

  • Creative thinker with strong interest in executing new strategies to drive increasing value to our customers, partners, suppliers, shareholders, and employees.
  • Strong presentation skills with experience working at both executive and board levels.
  • Possess executive presence and interpersonal skills that enable you to build relationships internally and externally.
  • Strong public speaking experience including engagements at conferences, with investors and media.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to build out metrics and synthesize data.
  • Possess soft skills and competencies that include: Inspirational leadership, holistic ownership, strategic focus, operational intensity, communicating with impact, and acting as a talent champion.
  • Possess an established network of ESG/CSR colleagues from whom you can seek advice.
  • Familiarity with frameworks such as SDG’s, reporting standards such as SASB or GRI, and ratings agencies such as MSCI and ISS.
