The Sr. Analyst, Data Governance, is responsible for improving the accuracy and reliability of financial / operational data used for analysis and reporting. This individual will be also responsible for improving the efficiency of various processes across all CIM business units.
Essential FunctionsBuild user friendly tools that create efficiencies for various business processes and improve the accuracy and reliability of financial and operational data using programs / languages such as VBA (Excel Macro), SQL. Assess opportunities to make improvements to existing, temporary tools and processes that should be transitioned to permanent solutions. Propose an improvement or transition plan while weighing overall project objectives and priorities and assist in the transferring of knowledge, development or implementation of new tools or processes as needed Analyze data flow in and out of various systems such as YARDI and evaluate alternative tools to organize the data in reporting database managed by Data Governance team. Work with other teams such as Property Management, Leasing, Portfolio Oversight, Investments and Accounting & Financial Reporting to gain understanding of where source data is created and how it is used by all business units. Apply understanding of database modeling and relational database management to design, re-design, build and maintain firm wide data management solutions as neededAnalyze source data for potential discrepancies and missing data elements in data used by Data Governance. Propose and implement solutions to remediate discrepancies. Maintain integrity of Data Governance team’s data management tools to ensure they do not create additional discrepancies and take ownership of information in all reports, tables or other tools createdContribute to joint initiatives related to the implementation of enterprise data warehouse solutions by working with ITEnsure data points used by Data Governance team conforms to standard industry guidelines and internal data definitions using GAAP, GIPS/REIS/NCREIF performance metrics and general real estate operating metrics
Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Financial Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or related quantitative field3+ years' previous data analysis, management experience in the financial services industryExperience with financial modeling in ExcelReal estate private equity experience (preferred)Information Technology, Finance / Accounting experience (optional)CPA, CFA (optional)Knowledge of logical database modeling concepts and relational database managementKnowledge of US GAAP, GIPS/REIS/NCREIF performance metrics, and real estate operating metricsProficient in Excel and financial modeling (complex formula, pivot with data connection)Proficient in SQLProficient in VBA (Excel Macro), and ability to learn other languagesExperience with data warehouse and BI toolsExperience in YARDI, MRI, J.
