Tribune Tower

CIM Transforms a Windy City Landmark

Tribune Tower | Chicago, Illinois

In 2016, CIM purchased Tribune Tower, a 96-story historic neo-gothic skyscraper located on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile. At the time, Tribune Tower served as an office building and was home to companies including the Chicago Tribune and Tribune Media. CIM saw an opportunity to enhance the community and create a gathering place for Chicago residents by redeveloping the existing building into a retail and residential destination. 

While respecting Tribune Tower’s architectural elements and landmark status, we plan to adapt the building for residential use. The 96-story historic tower will transform into over 430 apartments and 120 condominiums, providing additional housing options for downtown Chicago’s growing population. In addition, we plan to improve the street-level pedestrian experience by creating new and enhanced retail spaces.

The construction of residences and retail spaces at Tribune Tower will provide offerings that cater to the needs of residents and visitors. This project is just one example of our commitment to improving the lives of people in communities and creating value for our stakeholders.
