This position is responsible for overseeing all accounting functions for Phoenix Corporate and the captive broker-dealer, including supervision and leadership of staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Oversees preparation of quarterly and annual management report
  • Ensures timely and accurate completion of all month and quarter end closing processes
  • Oversees accounting for and processing of capital raise activity from broker-dealer perspective
  • Responsible for final review and approval of monthly close binder
  • Establishes and supports standard practices and procedures for all record keeping and reporting to ensure compliance with internal and GAAP standards
  • Assists in budget review and comparative period analytics
  • Reviews and approves invoices to be paid by corporate entities
  • Coordinates annual financial statement audits
  • Ensures compliance with broker-dealer accounting and financial requirements
  • Acts as point of escalation and support to ensure external departments understand and follow accounting policies and procedures
  • Assigns and reviews technical accounting research memos as needed
  • Prepares and/or reviews broker-dealer financial statements
  • NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Performs ad hoc projects and analyses
  • Performs high level review of the financial closing, account reconciliations and variance analyses prepared and reviewed by the corporate accounting team
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (IF ANY);
  • Oversees work assignments of corporate accounting staff including but not limited to setting performance expectations, providing feedback/coaching on performance and ensuring accuracy and timely completion of work assignments
  • Responsible for staffing including but not limited to evaluation of existing financial staff, hiring new staff and training staff on CIM procedures
  • EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS (including certifications, licenses, etc.):
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Related Field
  • Seeking Big 4 experience
  • CPA preferred; FINRA Series 27 / 28 license a plus
  • 7 to 10 years relevant accounting experience
  • Demonstrated success in a managerial role
  • REIT accounting or reporting experience a plus
  • Demonstrated expert level knowledge of GAAP accounting
  • TECHNICAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
  • Experience in MRI, Yardi or comparable software
  • Ability to make effective decisions quickly
  • Accuracy and timeliness of work product
