This position is responsible for overseeing all accounting functions for Phoenix Corporate and the captive broker-dealer, including supervision and leadership of staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Oversees preparation of quarterly and annual management report Ensures timely and accurate completion of all month and quarter end closing processesOversees accounting for and processing of capital raise activity from broker-dealer perspectiveResponsible for final review and approval of monthly close binder Establishes and supports standard practices and procedures for all record keeping and reporting to ensure compliance with internal and GAAP standardsAssists in budget review and comparative period analyticsReviews and approves invoices to be paid by corporate entitiesCoordinates annual financial statement auditsEnsures compliance with broker-dealer accounting and financial requirementsActs as point of escalation and support to ensure external departments understand and follow accounting policies and proceduresAssigns and reviews technical accounting research memos as neededPrepares and/or reviews broker-dealer financial statements
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Performs ad hoc projects and analysesPerforms high level review of the financial closing, account reconciliations and variance analyses prepared and reviewed by the corporate accounting team
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (IF ANY);Oversees work assignments of corporate accounting staff including but not limited to setting performance expectations, providing feedback/coaching on performance and ensuring accuracy and timely completion of work assignmentsResponsible for staffing including but not limited to evaluation of existing financial staff, hiring new staff and training staff on CIM procedures
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS (including certifications, licenses, etc.):Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Related FieldCPA preferred; FINRA Series 27 / 28 license a plus7 to 10 years relevant accounting experienceDemonstrated success in a managerial roleREIT accounting or reporting experience a plusDemonstrated expert level knowledge of GAAP accounting
TECHNICAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS:Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and WordExperience in MRI, Yardi or comparable softwareAbility to make effective decisions quicklyAccuracy and timeliness of work product
