The VP of Data Analytics is an executive who bears responsibility for the firm’s enterprise wide data and information strategy, governance, control, policy development, and effective exploitation. This role combines accountability and responsibility for information protection and privacy, information governance, data quality and data life cycle management, along with the use of data to create business value.
Essential Functions:
  • Lead and supervise researching strategic business data and conducting data analysis. Interpret information and communicate findings to executives.
  • Oversee the strategic data priorities of the department and guide the organization on which data to store, analyze, and exploit for the business’s benefit.
  • Provide the firm with a vision for business-wide data activities and champion data ownership, standardization, accessibility, and governance. The VP, Data Governance is tasked with creating an environment that makes data and information accessible to all departments and personnel across the business.
  • Manage the lifecycle of data and information in order to comply with the business’s requirements. Provide expertise and consult on all major data-related initiatives.
  • Play a leading strategic role in defining and overseeing how the business captures, maintains, and applies data and information in order to support of key business processes. Establishes the strategic direction for building the business’s data management program and optimizing how the business uses data both internally and externally.
  • Play a highly collaborative role and will oversee cross-functional data governance while simultaneously ensuring adoption and adherence to data quality and process governance in the relevant collaborating departments.
  • Collaborate with industry leaders and experts to define data management tactics and strategies.
  • Develop and enforce standards for the process of data collection, quality and analysis.
  • Oversee business and operational strategy as it relates to execution across divisions. Translate business needs to analytical problems to solve 
  • Lead and manage data teams deploying all internal processes; through monitoring, measuring, and providing feedback on process performance. 
  • Define, lead, direct and manage an enterprise data strategy, ensuring our data collection and analysis solutions are coordinated, integrated and perform to the highest standards and expectations in the marketplace. Building, prioritizing, and managing a multi-year roadmap for analytics deliverables and investments.
  • Operationalize an enterprise data governance strategy. Aligning policies and processes to support data strategy, data quality, regulations, and security.
  • Develop and implement business transformation through direct engagement and relationship building with all stakeholders
  • Collaborate with technology teams on evolution of our data strategy tools
  • Supervise team members
  • Facilitate employee development and training opportunities that promote maximum productivity and position the employee for increased responsibilities and job growth
  • Provide ongoing performance feedback/coaching
  • Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree (advanced degree in Computer Science or Statistics preferred)
  • 15 years of experience working in data & analytics, including data governance and data innovation across an organization.
  • Experience in data management, analytics, data science, business intelligence and reporting strategy.
  • Prior experience in Asset Management or Financial Services
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience working with data warehouses
